Compassion = pain without suffering

To understand one another and ourselves, we need the courage to be compassionately curious, that is, to become comfortable with not knowing while holding each other in unconditional positive regard. Without the acceptance of uncertainty, love is conditional - self-serving and manipulative.

Everyone is so terrified of the core existential pain of life that we've all spent most of our life avoiding it. We believe that because we could not handle it as children, we can't handle it now. And this is so untrue. We CAN handle pain - but only with compassion. We cannot handle it alone, and we cannot handle it by resisting it.

When we compassionately handle our pain, we have no need to judge, withdraw, disconnect, criticize, get angry, resist, or turn to substance or process addictions. We bypass all the things we do that cause our suffering.

Look into my eyes and smile Follow me with your gaze Come and stand beside me Drink in my scent Graze my arm with yours And let yourself breathe out You're safe here by my side Talk with me about everything And nothing at all Laugh, and cry with me Share a meal with me Hold me close and cherish me. Touch my hand as we walk together Write me words of love Lose yourself in my embrace And find out what I'm worth Kiss like it's the first time, the last time and the best Take me away with you And show me all the rest.

Parallel lines

We’re a pair of parallel lines You’re just like me We’re on the same path But we don’t ever meet You talk to all my friends  but me I guess I’m not that nice after all You You’re in the house up on a cloud Me I’m on a mission.

Courage is not the absence of fear

"Everything you've ever wanted is on the other side of fear." -George Addair Wholeheartedly believe this. We have two choices in life: be led by fear, or lead with love and courage, trusting that things will unfold and work out just as they should. Maybe not how you planned, but always for the best. Fears will never disappear. But when you make peace with your fears, possibilities will appear. The next time you feel fear, just take the superhero stance! (And do some yoga to quiet the mind.)
